« My First "Real" Job | Main | Baring My Guts To The World »
I've been at my job for a little over a week now. It's nice, and I am eagerly waiting to be paid. Though I was actively looking for a job, I miss my two short weeks of being unemployed. There has been no more staying up until the wee hours of the morning, vegging out in front of the TV, eating a lot, and getting fat. Wasn't I living life the way it was meant to be lived? And, yet, I was too busy stressing out about not having a job! Bah!
My coworker came to my desk yesterday. Her: "This morning I walked the dog. Worked out. Jogged a couple of miles. Went to the gym. Yada yada yada." Doh! I couldn't help but think, "How the hell do you get all of that shit done so early in the morning before you leave for work? ... is that normal? ... or am I just abnormal because I think doing such things so early in the morning isn't normal?"
I have enough trouble getting my butt out of bed before 6 am, ... to get up around 4 am to do all those things that my coworker can do, is a totally alien concept to me. When I get up at 6, I usually stumble around with my eyes closed. I make my way to the shower. I shower with my eyes closed. I dress with my eyes closed. I drive to work with my eyes closed. I'm not a lazy person. My coworker is just a superhuman woman.
By the way, I am not actually driving to work yet. Still looking for a car. It's complicated and expensive. Hopefully things will work out soon.

I hate early starts for work. They drive me insane, but for my job they tend to be a reality. :(

You say "working the eight to five"... I say "working the eight to eight" ... ugh.

I work with people that do things like drive to the gym and go swimming before work. AND they start 30 minutes before me. I can barely get my ass up, showered, dressed, let the dog pee, and get to work on time. By the time they get there 1/2 their day is over. Crazy people.

I fully agree with the stumbling around for the first bit myself, I don't get the doing stuff before work other then "getting ready for work" basics.
