This term I took the class Ethnic Studies 233, Contemporary Issues and Cultures in Asian America. We examined the current situations and issues faced by Asian Pacific Americans and their creative work and cultures.
I took the specific interest of researching interracial couples and biracial children. I was able to read books on the topic and also think about my experiences as a child raised in two different cultures (maybe three if you include the American culture). Towards the last half of the term, our professor challenged our class to do more research and present our new knowledge to the class at the end of the term.
I teamed up with a high school friend, Kenny, and we interviewed friends we and random students on campus. We filmed the interviews (sometimes rather poorly with bad lighting and no tripod) and edited our material (sometimes rather poorly with limited resources and time).
Feel free to download our video here (low quality, wmv format only). I feel that it's an interesting view at interracial dating in Oregon.
