Fathers Shape How Daughters Interact With Other Men

me: my dad has been a punk all month
me: I sent him this long email about how he had hurt my mother and I, because he wanted to know what was wrong
me: and I ended with, "I never tell you because you don't listen."
me: and all he replied with was, "Glad you got your feelings out in the open. It's good to do that sometimes. I think your email was harsh, but I understand. Hope you're taking time to enjoy your college years."
me: I read that and was just super pissed
Mary: yikes
Mary: your dad is so great at ignoring you, even when he is talking to you
me: he didn't acknowledge my feelings, mention that he did anything wrong, explain himself, or try to apologize
Mary: he just never listens
me: it just hurt that I actually told him everything, and he just ignored it all
Mary: then do it again and tell his what you want from him
Mary: tell him you at least want an explanation
me: he just says things like, "I hurt too. I don't have money, etc."
me: and then i say, "But you're the one who left."
me: and he just ignores it
me: it's AMAZING how jaded he is
